The Crystal Screen Guard no doubt provides good screen protection, but the entire back (side against the screen) of it has an adhesive bond. So instead of hanging down like a curtain from an adhesive strip that extends only across the top of the screen (as other protectors do), this one adheres to every square inch. Its almost impossible to install something like this without getting bubbles under it that make your screen look like the flank of a spotted cow.

it took me hours to try to stick this guard to my macbook. the problem is it is so soft and it is very very difficult to get rid of the air bubbles between the screen and the protector. i'm a normal user, not sticking film professional, and still my screen is filled with bubbles. i washed it with cold water many times, it is fine with washing, but difficult to apply. and it gives protection to the screen

If there is a different model of the 17" macbook pro that features a seamless screen and border I could see this product actually working but mine does not, and I am not aware of a model that does.
While this screen protector is the correct size for the entire top half of your macbook pro, it overlaps onto the aluminum border. This poses a problem as the LCD screen is recessed into the aluminum body by 2or3 mm, while this may not seem like much it is quite a detriment when trying to apply and airtight protective sheet that does not account for this 2or 3mm differential. So while I was immediately skeptical of this product I attempted to apply it anyway. The protector adhered itself to the aluminum border and the center of the screen leaving air pockets bordering the screen. After a day or two the sheet would no longer adhere to the border of the computer and began to curl back away from it. You should probably avoid this product unless you only require one or two days of protection with significant distortion on account of the air pockets.

Having seen a number of screen damaged due to normal wear, I have been rather fanatical about protecting mine. I purchased this as one way to protect the screen from becoming scratched. I've used this type of device on my goggles, PDAs and phones for years and I feel there worth the money if you have the patience to install them correctly. This one came with a plastic card which along with the direction help to ensure it was properly installed. At some point, you will want to replace it and this manufacturer unfortunately didn't provide instructions for that.

I just would like to advise people not to buy this item. It is garbage!The seller was prompt but the product is crap. Couldn't get the bubbles out and when i tried, I creased the protector and it was over from there. Not a very good design and as for ease of use, it is like a sticker or decal peel and stick but please do not waste your money on this item. if you are looking for a screen protector for your mac book go with moshi ivisor if they made it in the 17" screen I wouldn't have wasted my money. so save your self the headache don't buy this product.
