I wrote a very positive review for this item a few days ago. Forget about that. The battery went dead a few minutes ago. I appears to be charging but it wont go any higher or any lower than 67% and if I unplug the AC adapter it shuts down.
80+ dollars later and I am right where I started and with a high risk of having a heart attack due to extreme anger.
Sadly Amazon doesn't have any original replacements and HP only ships to addresses within the US.
Sadly, the other buyer who reviewed this did so after I purchased my battery. The same seems to go for the AC adapter which I didn't buy due to poor reviews. I wish the same could have been said about this peace of junk. Its robbery.
Keep away from this item at all cost. Try and go with HP originals even at a higher cost. Don't waist your money.

I placed order for this in May 2008 from India to be shipped to my brother's address in US. I received it from him only recently. He did not even open the pack, so everything was intact. I installed it in my HP laptop and tried charging it for 24 hours. It is not charging and shows 0% charge. Since it is too late for replacement I think I lost my money.

This is a generic product, not OEM so where you buy it makes a difference as to manufacturer and quality. I bought this for the Compaq r4000 from Ultimate Accessories and the seller and product was excellent. They included an spare plastic shell that fitted the r4000 perfectly and the battery powered the laptop longer than the original when new. For the price this was a great buy.

The battery itself works perfectly. I had to contact the seller to get the right cover for the battery so my laptop would sit level. It still does not fit quite right but the cost (half of what it costs direct from HP) makes it worth it, in my opionion.
