I bought this stand knowing that eventually I would get a widescreen TV. It currently houses a 27" standard tube set, but that leaves me room for some books on one end and my PlayStation 2 on the other. The center area has one adjustable shelf with enough room for a large Sony receiver, TiVo, DVD recorder and a DVD-changer. Behind each door is another shelf, suitable for DVDs or PS2 games and accessories.
I don't know if I would put a 34" widescreen tube TV on this unit though. The top shelf needs to be thicker to support that much weight. It would be no problem for an LCD set, though.

I was so impressed with this piece of furniture that I took photos of it as I built it. I've uploaded several of these in the customer image gallery on this page.

I am a 30-year-old woman and I've build pretty much every piece of furniture I own. I've had experience building from nothing but a single sheet of paper. This, however, was such a pleasure that I literally savored the process.

Here's my list of memorable features, points, and advice:

- The unit came very well packaged with protective corners all around. Every single board was smooth and spotless without a scratch.
- The instructions are very clear and very, VERY user-friendly. Heck, they even have VIDEOS to show you how to put it together if you get stuck. I didn't need any help -- the printed instructions were excellent! Just read them carefully and it will be no problem. Do NOT try to assemble it without the instructions, though -- you need to know what kinds of screws go where, and the order of things is CRUCIAL, especially when making the doors.
- The most difficult part was putting in the two sets of doors -- both wooden and glass. I recommend taking a break before you start on those, and having plenty of light to illuminate the pre-drilled holes underneath the top of the unit.
- To prevent scratching the top of the unit, place a sheet on the floor before you position your first piece when beginning to assemble it. You actually assemble the piece upside-down to begin with.
- The top of the unit actually measures 47.5" and not 44" like it says elsewhere. The top IS wider than the inner storage area, though.
- I've made other points in the images

I am beyond thrilled to have had such a pleasurable experience building the unit. It looks wonderful and I know it will last me a very, very long time. I hope this review has been helpful!!
